I am just uploading the week 15 video of my learning intelligence journey (A video series to record my progress through learning AI). Till the video finish uploading, I said to myself why don’t you write a blogpost.

Words Control You!

In a famous experiment conducted by John Bargh and his team, a sample of students from New York University was asked to construct four-word sentences using sets of five given words. The students were divided into two groups. The first group had half of their sentences include words implying elderly characteristics (old, gray, bald, forgetful). The other group received neutral words for their sentences. Surprisingly, after this task, both groups were sent to another office in a different building for another experiment. The researchers measured the time it took each group to reach the new office. The second group was significantly faster than the first. The first group, having been primed with words related to old age, were subtly influenced in their actions, walking slower than normal. The words affected their actions. Similar experiments proved the same conclusion (I am looking forward to talk about them in the future). So, be aware of what you are saying and what you are hearing.
